Echocardiogram
An echocardiogram, or cardiac ultrasound, uses high-frequency sound waves to generate real-time images of the heart and its surrounding blood vessels. This non-invasive procedure evaluates the heart’s structure, function, and motion, allowing healthcare providers to monitor blood flow and identify potential abnormalities. During the exam, sound waves from a handheld transducer are reflected off the heart’s structures, producing detailed visuals for analysis.
