Interventional Procedures
Biopsies and Fine Needle Aspirations (FNA) are procedures used to collect tissue or cell samples for detailed examination by a pathologist. A biopsy involves removing a small piece of tissue for microscopic analysis, often guided by imaging techniques such as ultrasound to ensure accurate targeting. Fine Needle Aspiration is a less invasive alternative, utilising a thin, hollow needle to extract cells from an area of interest. FNAs are especially useful for assessing superficial masses or lymph nodes and are frequently used to evaluate thyroid nodules, breast lumps, and enlarged lymph nodes.
